Dr Sven Obholzer was born and raised in Namibia. After completing his medical and specialist ophthalmology training in Cape Town, he returned home with a clear goal: to provide people in Namibia with advanced eye care close to home.
Today, as the founder of Namibia Eye Institute, Dr Sven combines his surgical experience, modern technology and a personal approach to help patients protect, restore and improve their vision.
With over 13 years of experience in ophthalmology and microsurgery, Dr Sven has cared for patients with a wide range of eye conditions.
His areas of special interest include retinal surgery, cataract surgery and surgery involving the front of the eye. He also performs refractive procedures, glaucoma surgery and therapeutic laser treatments.
For patients, this means having access to broad ophthalmology expertise and a surgeon who understands that every pair of eyes is different.
Dr Sven completed his medical degree and specialist ophthalmology training at Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town.
In 2012, he completed his Master’s Degree in Medicine in Ophthalmology (MMed Ophth) and was awarded a Fellowship from the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa (FC Ophth).
